Tow Hook Installation

I searched the forum and didn´t find anything so here goes, I just bought the tow hooks for my Silverado and I was just taking a look down there (´cause it´s too cold outside), to see how to install them, it looks pretty stright forward but do I HAVE TO TAKE off the air dam to do it?? Thanks everybody

I don't think you need to if you have the hole already there inthe air dam. If the air dam is like the one's that come on the 4x4's and z71's w/ the hole next to the foglights you should be fine. I just installed a grille guard on mine and I did so A) without removing the air dam; and B) without removing the factory tow hooks. If you get underneath the truck, right under the frame ends, the hooks just slide right into a space and there is a bolt on the bottom that goes into the tow hook and a bolt on the side that goes through the hook and frame to a nut. that's all there is to it.

Just like airjam said, so long as the holes are there, no reason that you'd need to. Even if the holes aren't there, you could cut it without removing it, might be a bit awkward though!

I just replaced the tow hooks on my '99. Previous owner had taken them off and lost them. You have to wiggle them in there just right but they will go.

Should be a piece of cake, I put the stock fog lights on my truck in the stock holes and it said to remove the air dam but, there was plenty of room to install them without doing so.

where did you get your stock fog lights. did you have to flash the body computer to make them work ? did you install a switch. i want to do the same. cost for fog lights ?

Thanks for the responses guys, I´ll install them this weekend and let you know how it went. The holes are already there (thats why I bought the hooks, the holes just looks plain ugly) so I guess all I have to the is put the bolts on it.

Looks like in your pic you have the stock foggers/driving lights anyways. From what I've read the stock kit costs about $60-80 US I paid $140 Canadian from the dealer for mine I wish I sat in a few Silverados that had them first though cause they suck. My $80 Bosch pilot's I had on my Blazer were far superior. I'm actually thinking about pulling mine off and finding other ones that fit the hole.

I didn't have to flash the BCM on the Truck as I went with a seperate wiring layout and a relay that allowed me to use them when I want. I just used a 12 volt circuit that goes on and off with the switch. The only things I used out of the kit that I bought were the lights and the wiring to the bulbs. I didn't use the factory switch or relay that came with them....
