Okay my friend has a wrecked crx si and he now drives a 93 civic ex auto. My question is can he put that a6 tranny on the z6 motor? Obviously he'de need to do the other steps to converting auto to manual (shift linkage, etc?) but shouldn't that tranny bolt right up since they are both D? He says some people have told him "it won't work" I don't see why but if anyone knows please enlighten me.

If he's running a 93 civic, his biggest problem is going to be that his clutch is hydrolic and that tranny is cable. But other than that it will bolt up.

Yeah, the D16Z6 (93 ex) has as hydro tranny which means it has no cables. The D16A6 (crx si) has a cable tranny and the only problem you'll have would be converting it over to a cable and also converting it from auto to manual. Just doing the auto to manual would be challenging enough, so he'll have a double job there.
And yes it'll bolt up, but the hydro to cable conversion would have to be done first. Good luck with that one.
