just wondering if anyone knows or if there is a way to figure this out i own a 97 k1500 with a 3/5 4x4 drop in it i want to go with 20" or 22" rims but im not sure what tire sizes will work with the drop installed im prob gunna go with 20" rims so i dont have to go with those rubber band tires i want something to fill the wheelwell but not to rub if i need to do any measuring to help anyone figure this out just let me know thanx in advance tom

You can use the following formula to figure it out:

On a 265/75/16 tire:
W=Width (265 millimeters)
A=Sidewall aspect ratio (percent of the width, 75%)
R=Rim (16)
D=Outside tire diameter (in inches)

D= (((W/10)/2.54)xA)+16

just experiment with substituting numbers until you find a combination that will work

Also, is there any way I can talk you out of lowering a perfectly good truck? :-D

i just wanted to say that lowering a 4x4 sounds like a bad idea to me...i under stand its already lowered, i was just wondering why any one would do that? dont get me wrong i like a good lowered (4x2) truck. just seems like lowering a 4x4 is a waste.

yeah, you could just rip all that useless 4wd gear outta there and sell it for money for your tires.

go to a tire shop and have them try some tire/wheels on for you. Most will do it for free, especially if you end up buying from them

My wife and I agree with cordovaass!!
BTW : Any salvage yard would SELL you a stepside bed so that you wouldn't WASTE a good 4X4!

Of all the dumb things people do to their automobiles (like putting those huge aluminum spoilers on a Ford Tempo for exaple) this I believe tops the list! Who in the world with even just half a brain would lower a 4x4? What the &#*% is the purpose, seriously?? Whatever you are smoking, let me know, I bet I could make me some money off of it. A 4x4 is for offroad use, not scrapping pavement dude!! I LOVE lowered trucks don't get me wrong but come on now, you lowered a freakin 4-BY-4 pickup truck!? I just don't comprehend the logic there. "I like the Z71 step side bed but it doesn't come in 2wd" is what you said, I'm not a 100% sure if you are correct there BUT I do know there are 2wd stepside trucks of your particular body style. All the way from 88 to 98 but with your front end there is 96 to 98. I own one. I like it. I love it. It's not lowered yet but I plan on it. It is not a Z71 but it has the same exact bed as yours. Hell everything is identical to yours except (besides being 4wd) different shocks/struts, and a Z71 logo on the side of it. Oh, and mine wasn't a couple more g's. Didn't really think a sticker (Z71) and shock/struts I would eventually rip out were worth $2K AND SINCE MY PLANS WERE TO LOWER IT, I SURE AS HELL DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT BEING WORTH $2K MORE TO HAVE 2 MORE WHEELS CAPABLE OF TURNING CONSIDERING I WONT BE ABLE TO GET OVER A DAMN CURB ONCE IT'S SCRAPPING THE PAVEMENT!!!!!!

Oh hey one more thing, I heard those big oversized spoilers would give you almost 50 more HP......and if you got a fiberglass hood, that would be another 20 HP!!!!!!!! Might all look good on your already confused truck there buddy.

you know clampjockey, I think your right, I forgot that damn z71 sticker meant more hp. And we all thought this tmack00 guy was the fool.
