Having problem with 4 wheel drive on 95 s15 Jimmy, I have replaced vacuum switch on transfer case, it was stuck up, the accuater under battery was split and leaking trans fluid, accuater works, but cable doesn't move much, disconnect the cable to front axle and accuater sucks flat, cable moves but about a 1/2 inch. by hand. Is the cable bad or is it what the cable is connected to. How do you replace the cable? Or what should I try next?

If that actuator under the battery tray is torn you MUST replace it. Check the hose leading from that to the vac switch on the transfer case for leaks. That cable is desinged only to move a half inch or so as it simply locks the front differential into place to engage the prop shaft. Replace that vac servo under the battery and you should be fine.
(And again check your hoses. Oh, on a last note, when you put the new vac switch in on the transfer case, did you aling the key? That thing can still be put on backwards even though it's keyed.)

I have replaced vac switch on transfer case, old one was stuck up.
The accuater under battery was split, I replaced it. Still nothing.
Pulled cable off of front axle, the cable works free.
The part that the cable attaches to one front axle, I pull on it and it still will not lock in the front end. Any ideas?

Did you check the vac line going from the vac actuator to the switch on the transfer case? The cable that runs from the actuator to the front diff only moves about 1/2 inch. After that, check the hose that runs to the vac system (also runs to the vac cannister) if all your hoses are good and no cracks can be found, I would start looking at your encoder motor
