Acceleration Problems

-95 325ic
-speed = approx 50mph
-apply further acceleration
-car drops a gear and RPM's increase (so far so good)
-BUT!!
-RPM's do not sustain, rather they fall and oscillate (high/low/high/low)
-this only happens whilst cruusing and wanting to perform short and sharp acceleration
-it is like the car can't maintain power..........
Any ideas???

My 84' started out like that, with the same problem.It got worse as time went on..Long story short, after many parts...T.P.S. sensor was getting oil in it from a bad pcv valve. Let oil get on throttle plate shaft,and drip into t.p.s. sensor. pulled sensor and cleaned..it helped..so I replaced it. problem gone.. Hope this helps. Mark
