I have purchased new door locks for my 1970
mustang but they came with no instructions. Has anyone out there done this and how difficult is it? I am not talking about upgrading to electric locks, just replacing the old mechanical key locks.
Thanks,

I'm about to go remove the door locks in my '69, I'm shaving the handles. I'll let you know how it goes together.

It isn't that difficult. You have to remove the inner door panel(the vinyl part that makes it look pretty). Then open the door and roll the window all the way up. The door lock is held on by a clip, almost exactly the same thing that holds the trunk lock in place. Its kinda difficult to see up in there, so I suggest looking at how your truck lock is secured, practice taking that out, then attempt the door lock. You also have to remove the actuator rod that it uses. I found the best way to do this is to slip a screwdriver between the metal clip that grabs on the rod, twist the screwdriver, then use your fingers to pry it the rest of the way off. The rod should then slip out easily. Putting the new one in should be just about as easy/difficult. It took me about an hour to disassemble the entire door latch assembly(handles, latch, locks)
