91 Jimmy problems

Hello Gents! I'm a newbie at this so bare with me.
I have a couple problems that some of you hear might be able to help me with.
My truck temp guage is telling me that I'm over heating but I'm not it is currently -25C outside and there is no heat coming form the radiator when I look under the hood. Is it possible that this could be the thermostat problem or could it just be the sensor?? and if so can I travel 60 miles to get it to my garage without doing a whole bunch of damage and risking possible engine failure?

and my second problem (this is not related to the first, it was a pre existing prob) the fan that blows the air thru the vents has quit on me...where is this little devil located so that I can change it out myself??

Underhood pass side firewall for fan. Also have you checked fluid levels in rad. Prob a stuck stat.

if the gauge says it is overheating, it is overheating, don't go by the vents as a gauge of that.

Go and have you cooling system and heater core flushed and install a new rad cap and thermostat just to be sure.

60 Miles to the shop? Time to hit the phonebook for someone a bit closer maybe. Anyways...if you do have to get it going somewhere nearby, be sure to run the heater on full. The heat core should help pull a bit of heat from the rest of the engine...maybe not much...but if you're overheating every bit counts.

I had a problem with my gauge telling me that I was overheating...the problem was the sender unit was bad and the connector was damaged so I got a new connector out of a junkyard and solder it on...also replaced the sender. Problem solved.

You might as well replace the thermostat just in case because they are so cheap.
