Around 70-80 mph my speedometer is about 2 mph slower than HUD and the difference gets greater the faster I go. I know speedometers aren't as accurate at high speeds but is the HUD any better? I don't know how the HUD works so I was wondering which is more accurate. Thanks.

I believe they both read from the same signal from the PCM....so they should not differ at all
You may have a broken Speedometer....so I would guess the HUD is more accurate

Every post I've ever read about this, and there are many, the speedometer is always 2 mph slower than the HUD. I dont know which is the accurate one. But it's normal.

The one nice thing about the HUD is it will read your speed to 199 MPH!!!! Speedometer are nice for stop and go city driving.

My speedo reads 2mph higher than the HUD and my laptop/autotap reads 1mph lower than the hud.

Mine reads 1.5 to 2.5 miles faster then my HUD.

All I can say is, unless you are doing 5 to 10 miles over, most cops won't give you a ticket. So take it easy out there.

5 to 10? maybe in florida...here in jersey you have to be doing in exess of 25 over to get a ticket.. my dad drove right by a cop who was on the road with him doing 75 in 55..all he got was a warning!

Well in East Detroit Michigan, I got a ticket for 31 in a 30. And lost in court. I was driving my 70' Nova, with 13" slicks and headers and the list goes on. I don't think they wanted me back.

He got lucky thats all. I used be stationed in VA and drove through Jersey every other weeekend so I know you can get a ticket for anything over ten. If I am not mistaken I believe anything over 25 is reckless driving by law. :sunglasse
