Hey Morley (or others) - another TPI question

I am told that the TPS on my '92 Camaro TPI plenum should be "set up" by adjusting it with a digital volt meter. How do you do this, and why ? I thought the TPS either works, or it does not ? Thanks in advance for your time and experience to a fuel injection challenged person.

your tps sensor has a 3 wire connector. you want to probe the center wire in this connector with a volt meter. with the ignition on and the throttle closed it should have a reading of half to one volt. with the throttle wide open your reading should be around 4.5v. slowly open and close the throttle, there should should be a smooth gain in voltage as you open the throttle and vise versa.
your right, it either works or it dont. there's not a whole lot of adjustment on this, you can adjust the closed throttle voltage but only by half a volt at most

The 92's were non adjustable, the ECM "zeroed" the TPS reading each time the car was started. The earlier ones had slots where they mounted to the throttle body and can be used on the 90-92.
To adjust it you want to hook a DVM to the bottom and middle wires with the key on, engine off and throttle closed. The reading should be .54V +/- .15V. after adjustment open the throttle wide open and the reading should 4.5V or more.
