im having some trany problems

I'm have some transmission problems with a 93 olds 88. It started off as a clicking noise and i believe its coming from somewhere in the transaxle ( not matter what gear and car on or off when it moves it clicks ) then one day i floored it ( to turn left at a intersections ) and heard something jump and after that i was unable to accelecate at any speed or go past 30. Can anyone help me pinpoint the problem? or know how card it is to get to the transaxle? thnks
