Is it just me (or my musical preferences) or does it seem like some of the "greatest" (subjective term, of course) music comes from across the pond? It seems like so much of the really great music comes from the UK. I was just visiting random webpages for some of the bands I have in my MP3 collections, and I can't help but notice that the majority of them hail from western Europe (United Kingdom in particular.) I also notice that many of the artists from over there seem to make it bigger in the U.S. (at least initially.) Seriously -- make a list of the bands that are generally considered the most accomplished, and then write down where they come from. It's an interesting thing, really. Or perhaps I just dig the European composition and vocal style. Also, did you ever notice how singers with a NOTICEABLY British accent when speaking, suddenly seem to loose most of it when singing. Hell, I can't understand 5 consecutive words out of Ozzy's mouth when he's talking regularly, but I can follow an entire song.
Just an observation.
Just an observation.

it's gotta be your musical preference. I'm not a big fan of music out of europe. IMO the best music comes out of the west coast of the US. chilli peppers, sublime, STone Temple Pilots all out of california. Pearl Jam, Alice in chains, nirvana all out of Seattle, washington.
i can tell you one thing for certain thought. it ain't coming out of canada, they need to take back avril lavigne, celine dion, alanis morisette, bare naked ladies, the moffats, sarah mclachlan and every other whiney musician that keeps coming over here to try to make it big. Neil young is the only exception, he's pretty cool.

I would like to ask the person who signed her to a contract whether or not he was honestly interested in her singing or of he just wanted to see her in tight tank tops and other shitty clothes.

We do that on purpose. There are actually a lot of very very good Canadian artists, but they don't offer music outside of Canada. However, we all hate the above named artists as much as you do, so we just sent them south :D

I liked her first song, and I suppose her second song was alright too. After that, they just started sucking, and by the time the later songs came out, her first two songs had been played to death, and now suck.
So yeah, I think you're the only one :p

see, i think of it like, if she weren't so damn cute, would her music still be as popular? i think people like the idea of the hot skater-punk chick more than they like her musical talent. if her video's on TV i'll watch it, but if i can't see her, i for damn sure don't want to hear her. Same with ashley simpson. she really can't hold a tune to save her life, especially on live stuff, but she's pretty cute with a killer body, so she's accepted.

I hear ya tenguzero. Except I'm obsessed with black metal, and lemme tell ya, no metal beats Scandanavian black metal. Seriously, from what I'm noticed, I'd say about 75% of all black metal & death metal bands are from Scandanavia and another like 15% i'd say are from England or Northern europe, making just about 90% of all black metal & death metal bands from Europe. American metal scene just plain sucks. The Scandanavian metal scene just plain kicks ass. There's many reasons for this, but people say it's mainly the environment. In the lands of fjords, glaciers, and frozen moonlit forests, what better music to compose then black metal? \m/ RAGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! \m/
lol just my 2 cents - long live scandanavian black metal
