93 ford escort LX need help!!!!!!!!!

im having a major problem with my 93 ford escort lx it's making a tinny
nocking sound comming from the passenger side of the car the belt area and the timing area the sound is continous threwout driving and stoping it sounds like the sound is external almost becuse i can not hear anything by the volve cover i tried changing the water pump i thought maybe the bearings inside the water pump was shot and it's still making the sound we took a hose and tryed to put are ear up to it and find out where the pinging rateling sound is comming from and it's comming from the crank pulley around that area i asked my mechanic if he thinks it might be the bearings and he said no the sound is comming from somewhere else and he and i have no clue what could couse that iv took it to 3 other places and they told me they dont no the car has 80,000 thousand miles on it and it doesnt burn oil at all the car was siting for a year before i purchased it and it started making the noise after a week or 2 from purhase and the car starts up evrytime no problem any ideas ????????????????

Found the problem the crank shaft pulley bolt was loose so it was rubbing against something to make a loud knocking sound

Found the problem the crank shaft pulley bolt was loose so it was rubbing against something to make a loud knocking sound

Glad you found your problem. Hope your car is not lacking power or anything after that. Mine was, and it took me forever to figure out what the heck was wrong. Turns out the bolt was loose, which allowed the key that holds the crank sprocket to bend just enough to throw the timing off and make it wimpy. Hope you caught yours before this happened though!
