My 2000 continental has catback exhaust that goes from one pipe from the cat to a Y-pipe to the two mufflers. Is it possible to convert or replace the exhaust so it is a true duel exhuast setup? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to have a true duel exhaust on the later model lincoln continentals. I had to have the catylitic converters replaced recently and asked the muffler shop if it was really necessary for the car to have three cats, one resinator and two mufflers. He said it is factory tuned like that and that any modification would cause driveability problems and that the car wouldn't run right.

I tried to have him do what you are talking about, and he said it could be done, but you would be risking the car running to its full potential. I guess Ford has it set up that way because it is tuned and runs to its full potential that way believe it or not!

Not to mention, there aren't many places these days that are willing to deviate from stock to custom on a vehicle like that. Sorry I don't have any better news, but I already tried.

you can do this if you want as long as the converters stay where they are you can change fron the converters back if you wants and it will be ok
