Had a few people when PM'ing there votes to me have asked that the resuilt not be shown untill the end of the contest.
I think its a good idea to post the votes up every couple of days as it can get interesting.

Have your say

As of the moment there's such a big curve I don't think it really matters, but it would be more exciting to wait until the end of the contest to post the final results.

I think that if the votes are held to the end it'll stop people voting for someone just because everyone else is.

You can't change the format this year, but I think in future contests the votes should be blind until the end when we all see who the winner is. It's the only way to make people honestly vote for their favorites without any outside influences that might steer them one way or another. I voted before reading the results, but I can see where someone's vote might be swayed by seeing the results ahead of time.

Well, its pretty clear who the winners are going to be. So i'd say leave it the way it is. People with curbside models are getting ripped by models with engine detail  I should've done engine detail :crying:

leave it that way

And for those that can't make they own idea on model and need to see the result before voting, then you are pathetic.

As long as people are unconditionally voting for THEIR favorites I see no harm in updating the counts.

IIRC, didn't we have a surprise come-from-the-middle-of-the-pack change of leader in the very last days of the first contest?

I say keep'em updated. ;) Make the race interesting.

Yepp! I sure like to see the "race" develope. How about just hearing the engines roar in a F1-race without comments or picture!? Suddenly someone says - and the winner is....

You can't cgange it now, but it is more exciting when results are hidden.

Definitely keep the updates. It is one of the things that makes the AFMOTY unique. Besides, with a whole month (too long?) to vote we need something to keep us entertained. In this case we pretty much know who the winner will be, but the race for second could be interesting!

I also like the addition of the #1 votes too, and those damn links still don't work for me. :)

Maybe the time can be looked at also as you said Phil.
Maybe cut the voting back to 2 weeks :dunno:

Yes, Warren I'd be happy to cut the voting time back to just two weeks. You would know better than anybody but I'd imagine the number of votes trails off after the first week or so? Then there is probably a rush towards the end?

Update it every couple of days. Keeps the pressure up.

Usually i'm swamped with PM's in the first 2-3 days then they trail of to around 5-10 per day with the last week either being slow or a last minute rush

I'd suggest leaving the result blind until the last day. Since the list contains not only the top contestants, but everyone, and some are very close, and 3 points can change the result considerably. While I like the idea of racing toward the end of the voting day, I think it's fare to avoid any biased vote.

Maybe you can unfold a certain number of mails every two days, and distribute the racing evenly till the end day. That way, we don't get the absolutely most update result, but the voting won't be biased, because the result remains unpredictable.

And for the next year, maybe you can close the voting in 2 weeks, and start unfolding 5-10 votes a day and let the race run until the end of the month.

Just my 2 yens.

Keep the votes updated every few days definitaly makes the contest more interesting. I think two weeks for the voting is more then enough. I really like to look if I got any more votes, just because it gives me the feeling that people like my models. Sort of keeps me motivated :D

Its good the way it is, its much more exciting logging in every day & checking out how the results are developing. I also agree with Phil on shortening the actual voting time to maybe two weeks.
