1997 Silverado Blower Motor Problem

My blower won't turn on when I turn the switch. I have to hit the cover under the dashboard to get it to start. I'm looking to take the cover off and check it out to see what the problem is. Any advise on first, how the cover comes off? Second, what should I look for? Thanks for any advice.
