guys thankyou for your insight nad replies to the tpi or lt1 forum. Now i have another dilemma..Back in feb of 04 i bought a 90 240 sx from an auction for 1500 dollars and two days later the sob threw a rod and i could not get the money back because the woman who auctioned it skipped town. Now i need to know since i am going with the tpi should i put two grand down for the installation of the sr20de or is the iroc still faster and that is what i should stick with and i love chevy but i want the quickest car. Thankyall for the replies peace.

dont know anything about the nissan, or the engine for it so i cant offer any knowledge on that, you could try the 240SX forum on here, and ask about how fast it would be. IROC's factory ran 14.5 - 15 seconds, but those times drop quicly with mods.

but i agree with geno on this one, mod the 240 to run with the sbc 350 :)

The 240 sx is a fast machine , I've been beaten by one. The SR20 is a mean engine , they used to put them in skylines. I'd say go with the 240 sx , it's lighter , faster and easy to mod for cheap. With just a few mods you can turn them into 12 second cars. Check around on some of the nissan forums and get some more input. There is one thing that would be bad ass though would be a v-8 hybrid.

so basically a stock 90 chevy iroc tpi would not be able to handle a stock sr20 90 240sx

i used to read sport compact car mag all the time, they had a silvia project car (jap 240sx) that they were kinda struggling to get it into the 12's. i'm pretty sure it had an sr20 in it. honestly its fun to run around it a quick little car, but if you would have fun hitting the go pedal and leaving a 100ft trail of tiresmoke then the iroc would be yours. the iroc has much more potential. but initially i would think similar mods would get similar gains on each car. but the sr20 engine comes w/ a turbo, and the iroc is n/a. which means that as soon as you force induct the iroc, the 240 will be long gone...

A straight six is a serious work horse. You can pull serious power from them. Most tractors weighing over 10K lbs used straight 6's.

Some one released a cool supercharger that offers 110 HP to a stock tpi 88 iroc set up. Watched it on over haulin today. Took the rwhp up to like 312 I was suprised. If you had that set up or a turbo that would work in some way , you could easily dust any Sr20.

The sylvia was a bad ass machine. They were the perfect drifting cars in japan , they had just as good speed and handling reviews as the r32. But that was in japan , in america..shit changes..
