How much do you pay for insurance?
This topic always brings people out of the woodwork, especially newbies.

My 1992 Prelude Si cost $700 per year in a small city.
When I moved to the Metropolitan area, $1300.
I sold the car after I realized that after 2 years, I would be paying more in insurance than the actual value of the car.

^^The Wellfare Forums?
I like having a smallish core group of good people here as opposed to a throng of utter retards. (ie: "You got a RSX? My frend he got Accord and smoke a RSX like it wasnt moving. RSX is suck, stoopid."). It should grow quickly around here within the next couple years, I would imagine- although most owners are probably lured away by CRSX. I was a moderator at a fledgling RSX site that tanked out about a year ago. Usually it was me, the other mod and the administrator shooting the shit. This is much better.

Anyways, yes it's nice to have a small group. I don't go to crsx much anymore unless I need some info. I've also been a bit busy myself and haven't posted around here lately.
As to the answer to the post $70/mo.

Wow!! With what you guys pay for insurance, I guess I'm in the wrong league here. I am thinking about buying an RSX, and I was wondering if you guys can tell me how satisfied you all are with your cars. I don't see many problem threads here like I do on OldmobileForums.com. :lol2:

Thanks! But what I was really getting at was how reliable are RSXs? Based on your experiences.
crazy_canuck
01-12-2005, 06:15 PM
Honda/Acuras are great for reliability, second only to Toyota/Lexus. I have yet to have a problem in my RSX, for a while I had the gear grind that many have, and now its gone:D Common problems:
2nd Grear grind (for which a technical service bulletin has been issued); cracking leather which many dealers will replace; the Bose sub doesn't have that much base, a TSB has all been issued for that, its just as simple as swapping a wire.
I have no complaints here, if I were going to buy a car again it'd either be an RSX-S or an RX-8 GT.

Yep. You really can't go wrong with Honda/Acura. I had a Civic EX in college that was still running perfectly at 200K when I sold it, my brother has an Integra with 185K and zero problems, and other than what Canuck mentioned, I can't complain about the RSX. Reliability is somewhat of a non-issue.

Thanks. That's what I thought. Sounds like all the other stories I have heard about Honda/Acura - since I didn't listen to my girlfriend and bought Oldsmobile. Did so partially to keep peace in my family; they worked for GM. Not anymore. I can't afford to give charitable donations to American car companies. Sad.
Amazing. 200,000 miles without problems. I'm headed for a used-car dealer tomorrow to look at a 2002 non-S-type with 36,000 miles. I am just praying that he gives me something for my Oldsmobile.
I just looked at Intellichoice - 5 year cost of ownership for Intrigue - $36,640; RSX - 25,952!!!! That includes depreciation, which is the killer - repairs were noticeably higher for the Intrigue, even though the parts should be less expensive for American car.
I will probably give my dad a heart attack and I won't be able to park it in his driveway. Oh well.

And about family loyalty to GM, just tell your dad it was too pricey, and let him drive the RSX :p

Depreciation is usually the largest factor. However, if you keep any car long enough, they all depreciate down to $2,000 - $5,000 USD.
No matter which car you buy, make sure to drive it for at least 7 years in order to maximize your money.

Thanks all. Alldata can't provide Honda/Acura information. Seems Honda wants all control and $ for that information.
I bought the 02 non-S, blue/black, 5-spd. Sweet, sweet, sweet!!
You are right about driving the car for 7 years. Try doing that with a GM!! Maybe the older ones, or the trucks. I wish them well with their new cars; they've got a tough job ahead of them if they want to regain their market share.

White?! Only in Florida (or other hot place). And with that .....whatever it is - pearlescent stuff - seems only suitable for chicks.
It was a toss-up between blue and midlife crisis red (Firepepper Pearl) but that car was 250 miles and $1000 away.
I suspect I am better off with blue; it won't attract as much police attention as red!!

I have to say, I really like all of the colors except Milano red (yes- even ABP Canuck  ). I guess the white isn't THAT bad- but I wouldn't want to own one. But anyway...the more I see RSXs in paulkramer's color, the more I like it. It looks almost black at night- so, best of both worlds. What would you think of a dark British racing green with tan leather?

Personally I prefer a black interior. And I like all of the exterior colours out there for the RSX. I'd even own a silver.
For 02-04 IMO its Blue, White, Black, Silver, Red, DSM and for 05 its White, Black, Orange, Blue, MagMet, Red, Silver.
