1991 S-10 Blazer high Idle

Hey all, I just put a new 4.3L into my '91 S-10 Blazer. I also installed new Edelbrock headers, water pump, radiator, exhaust including CAT and well, just about everything else. Anyways, I had no problems starting her up (besides putting gas into the truck). Well, with the truck turned on she idles at 2000 RPM even when she is at operating temperature. I am also getting quite alot of smoke coming from the motor. I do not see any exhaust leaks though. I am guessing this is just the coating on the headers. My question is...Is there a way to adjust the idle on a 4.3L motor to normal idle? What is the normal idle for this truck? My other question is has anyone installed headers and got alot of stinky smoke coming from the engine? How long did it smoke for? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alot.

Did you check the timing?
Is the engine new?
Did you clean and reinstall the IAC sensor?

What engine was previously in your truck?

I have adjusted the timing, the engine is a crate motor from Jasper, I installed everything that was previously on the old motor. I did not clean the IAC sensor though (what is the IAC sensor? What does it stand for?). I previously had the 4.3L in the truck. I put another 4.3L engine in.

What about the o2 sensor where did you put it??
I=Idle A=AIR C= Control.
If its dirty it will give you a high idle

I bought a new O2 sensor. I put it in the header pipe just before the CAT.

Guess what guys....it was an easy fix that noone thought of. You all need to stop thinking of all of the difficult fixes. It was just the throttle cable. Apparently it got mis-adjusted during the tear down. Thanks for your help anyways.

And thank you for being an asshole and slamming our help.
We assumed the throttle cable would be installed properly, that is not our fault that it wasn't.

Well Blazerlt I guess we (you and me and a few others) should stop waisting our time in here. Because we just arnt smart enough. This dude removes and installs a engine(good for him) then RUNS to this news group with a high idle problem instead of doing some very basic trouble shooting and rags on US for his mistake. Go figure.

Ditto on the TWO previous posts. My sentiments. As Fireplug said, smart enough to change an engine but doesn't know how to adjust a throttle cable. So I wonder who the real asshole is.
(LT, one of the few times you will here a blue word from me.)

Hehehe, true.
Look at all three of us agree on something. This is a "blue" moon. ;)
