I was wondering if any of you have put a body kit and had the whole car repainted b4? How much would it cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanx

Well it all depends on how much work has to go into putting the kit on. And are you going to change the color of the car? If not and all you want is to put the kit on and repaint the whole car the stock color I would imagine you could get it done for about 2500.00 if you already have the kit. The better the work the more its going to cost. but dont expect to pay less then 2500 for a good job.

well whatever you buy the body kit for. Then just shape it and sand it yourself it will be time consuming but do it. Then if you want to paint your car the same color or whatever take some 800 sand paper if your stock paint is already in decent condition just some paint deep scratches
dry wet sand it all with 800 sand paper. wash it then the next day when it is sunny look at it and look at any spots that still shine you want to get all the gloss layer off. then re do those spots and check one last time until there is no shine just the dull color. get it all ready do the same with the kit then go to a local paint shop that you trust bring in the kit seperatly take your spoiler off and stuff have all the parts painted seperatly. shouldnt cost you more then 1000for a good paint job with 1 coat of primer if its just the outside stuff, . if you did all the prepare work yourself that just time consuming and a couple bucks on sand paper and primer for the body kit. just make sure its all smooth and there is no gloss layer. it should turn out really well remember the more time and effort you put in to it the better the paint job will be. its not the paint its how well you prepare the surface.
also take stock bumpers and side skirts and pay the extra 200 or whatever to get those painted, cause when that old lady behind you runs in to you at 4 miles per hour your back bumper if its fiberglass will crack and fly 50 feet because fiberglass sucks ass i know. Also becareful putting the kit back on when its painted so you dont scratch your new paintjob.

it all depends on what color, what type of paint used, who's going to do the work for you (fitting bodykit, attaching, paint prep., paint) and all of that stuff. everything plays a factor in the cost of a paintjob on a car. i can't tell you how much it cost for my car because i did all the work myself and with the help of our shops bodyman, but everything plays a factor in cost.

Well you should do the work yourself attaching the body kit will take some time and maybe some mesurment stuff nothing hard just time consuming. same with the paint prep it all just takes time anybody can do that stuff it all just takes time.

i wouldn't go with ANYBODY can do that stuff. yes, most people probably could do that stuff but there are alot of people that also don't have the time to first of all sit down and do that, nor do they have the know-how. fitting a bodykit is not just lining up to what "looks" good and drilling holes. you need to put everything on and take it off a bunch of times and make it fit, that's why they call it "fitting." also, paint preparation isn't a breeze either, if you don't do it perfect, you won't have a perfect paintjob. for a car to look like it's been done right, it HAS to be done right, there aren't any shortcuts when installing a bodykit and painting a car, and that's just the way it is. if a shitty job is done, it will turn out shitty. like i said before, everything plays a part in the cost of a paintjob.

i think you need to be a little more specific on things. who's going to do the work for what parts? are you going to do everything or are you going to just do some parts and have professionals do others? another thing is if you want a real estimate, go and get one. go down to a few local bodyshops and ask them how much it will be to do what you're looking at, that should give you a much closer estimate than anyone on here can do.

well as for not having the time to do it. think about it either way they spend time to earn the money to pay somebody else and the time to earn that money would probably be 10 times longer then the time it would take to do it themselves. and for the fitting yeah you do all that and still with a friend you can do all the fitting mark it off and make it all fit perfectly then sand off the unaligned edges and stuff. but yeah its better to do it yourself then to spend your hard earned money and let somebody else do it. also if you want something done right you do it yourself.

i guess everyone has different viewpoints but BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION - if you want a real "estimate" go to a bodyshop and talk to them, or if you are doing it yourself, figure out the cost for all the materials and all that good stuff needed for the job.

THE DEFINITION OF A RICER - (compliments of Kevin Jewer - 95 GSXracer) My definition of a ricer is simple. Some poeple mod thier cars to GO FAST, and thats fine. Some poeple mod thier cars to LOOK GOOD, and thats fine. But Ricers modify thier car to LOOK FAST. Gay.
There's a difference between a show car, which is a perfectly legitimate hobby, and a riced out car.
And it goes to all races/etc, not just asians. And for that reason I wish there was a better term for it, but ricer is just so damn popular. You also have ricer/rednecks, which I have dubbed RICE NECKS
if you didn't see, the stickers say dohc vtec, and type r which mostly is making fun of honda's. i would consider my car more a show car instead of the overpopular term of "ricer" and as far as my "stickers" go, those aren't stickers they're painted on graphics and that car isn't the only one i have, if you didn't read my sig fully, I also have a fwd turbo (GS-T), and an awd turbo (TSI AWD). I think i can take the n/t and make it look nice because it would cost alot more to make it both fast and nice, and then just have the turbos fast.
THIS IS FOR EVERYONE:
just because someone has a car for looks doesn't mean it's "ricey", nor does putting a bodykit on or graphics mean "ricey". some people see a car w/a bodykit or graphics low to the ground and automatically think "RICER" but what if that car can run a 12, 11, or even 10 sec. 1/4 mile?? you have no idea! if you were to race that car and have it whoop your cars ass, would you still call them a "ricer"? I WOULDN'T, that's why when I think twice before I call someone a ricer. yeah i agree that there are "ricers" out there, but those are mostly the guys that buy all their shit at napa or checker auto and places like that.
Now next time you see a car that has a bodykit or graphics or rims or low to the ground, think twice before using the term "ricer".
