exhaust flow interrupted?

I don't really know where to begin with this question, but here it is: While my car is just at idle what should the exhaust coming out of the talipipe feel like? What i mean is this: i put my hand back there and didnt fell much of anything coming out, even when i had somebody give it a little gas. I suspect this because the car sat for a long time before i bought it and i am thinking there is something in there, like a rats nest (i'm not joking!!). Lets put it this way, my 94 escort has more force coming out of the exhaust. Is this a characteristic of this car? I know its difficult to tell without comparing to to a normal Tsi. Also, i dont drive the car since it needs a new turbo and when i did drive it, only a total of 11.1 miles, about 5 of which was with the turbo working properly, it didn't feel as fast as i thought it would be. And im thinking that a restriction in the exhaust might be to blame, any insight is appreciated.
