Exhaust System

I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand AM SE. Our car was fine until the other day when I turned a corner. After I had turned something happened to the front of my exhaust because all of a sudden it got really loud. We haven't been driving it lately and I was walking home and looked at the car and noticed that since it been sitting there the front of the exhaust has come down further. What could be wrong? Please help ME! I need my car. Also, I am afraid to drive it because 1. It's so loud 2. I dont want the whole exhaust to fall off. WHAT DO I DO? PLEASE HELP!!!

Replace the exhaust. It sounds like the pipe ahead of the cat has rusted through. You will probably have to take it to a shop to have it changed due to the fact that the cat may be difficult to seperate from the pipe. If you have the tools and a place to work you should be able to do it yourself. If the cat is welded to the pipe, once you remove it you can take it to a shop and have them cut and reweld it for you.
