biger filter=more pover?

hey guys, im about to buy new filter for my RS but just decided to ask if bigger filter will work better or worse or it doesnt really matter? I have cold air intake, and another question is: if i'll put bigger filter is it going to help reduce chances to get water into engine :)?

it'll work and you'll get some but not alot of horses out of it. The chances of getting water is higher, but on a cold-air system, you'll need one of those things, kinda like a cushon that aborbs the water, right before the intake pipe goes down.

there's so little restriction on a regular intake, I don't think a larger filter would noticably reduce what little restriction there is.

A larger filter on a turbo car will actually do some good. A guy on tuners a while back did some testing with filter sizes and concluded that larger filters actually help reduce pressure drop (in other words, you can't really go TOO big on a filter with a turbo). I can't remember exactly the details on his testing, so you may just have to search on tuners for it.

Just thought I'd throw that in as some food for thought ;) .

a bypass valve, or cushion lol, will probably be necessary. it is on my acura, since the aem intake filter is about 4 inches from my tire, and i know plenty of cheap asshats that have hydrolocked their engine because they didnt spend the extra 45 bucks.

I heard if you put on the bypass then the cold air intake is only getting as much power as a ram air system, but just costs more. Is this true?

Not so much a "bigger" filter, but a thinner filter, same diameter. thinner=less restriction, but higher chance of contaminants. And a thicker =more restriction, but less chance of contaminants.

Why don't you get the Ice Man C.A.I? You have the option 2 switch back and 4th! I had It...Loved it..Will get again!
