Well what do you want to do? Do you want an all motor car or FI? If you want an all motor car and money isnt a factor then id say swap in a k20a :) itll set you back a good bit but itll give you 220hp and 206tq out of the box. If you want to go turbo then you might want to put an engine in with lower compression, maybe some of the integra guys can help you out with some b18 ideas, I think most of them have fairly low compression. Also If you want a good deep sound id get a magnaflow, i have one on my 02 Si and it sounds great, not too loud, but nice and deep. Not like a huge fart can exhaust.

If you want a little more realistic idea of what to do to your car then at least a price range would be great. Because if for example you got a swap with a k20a and had someone do it for you it would probably set you back 7k easy. It all depends on how much money you have.

That sucks about the 240sx, Dr. At least you didn't get an American car :lol:, j/k for you american car drivers reading this.
But yup, just fill us in on how much you're willing to spend, as well as how much power you're looking for. There are so many things you can do to Civics, we need your help to narrow it down. Help us help you.
Like what sivic02 said, the k20 swap would probably be the most expensive end of the spectrum. The cheapest would be to turbo your existing motor. You could piece together your own custom kit for around $1,500-2,000 and easily hit 170-180whp safely with stock internals. In addition to telling us the $ you've got to work with and how much power you're looking for, you should read this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19176

dr, u might wanna keep the sohc vtec, its not a bad motor if u knoe what ur doing, try apex-i ws exhaust, skunk2 intake manifold. with stock air box, cause u lose hp with "cold air intake" comp cam makes a good cam if u knoe how 2 do it urself, and ur stock motor runs 9.5:1 compression, dats fine for low boost and 190whp, dyno proven

well my price range in all actuality would be about 10k. & i really dunno ANYTHING bout civics. so all the b18s & krs20s or w/e..i got no clue wut ur sayin lol.. :banghead: ..but as far as horsepower i want somewhere around 300-400hp. do you think i can get this much power out of the stock engine or would swappping it & hooking that one up be a better bet? hopefully i narrowed it down a bit for you guys..thanx for da help! :smokin:

the b18's and k20a's were talking about engine codes. Its just like the name of the engine. In your car you have a d16y8 (i believe) which we can break it down into what it means.
d = family of engines, specific things make engine families different from others
16 = displacement the 16 is 1.6L
y8 = i dont believe this actually MEANS anything but is just to tell the different engines apart

if your looking for 300hp id definately swap out the engine. Im not sure about the compression on these engines so i not sure which would be the best choice, maybe someone else on here can help you further, but here are a few good engine choices for you.
b series engines are probably the most swapped in engines out of them all, the b16's make from 160-185hp depending on the engine
as far as be b18's id probably try to stick to the b18c engines (b18c1, b18c5 etc) because they will be putting out about 170-200hp
Some people are h22 fans, but i have heard horror stories of horrible understeer because of the weight of the engines in civics.
If you really want to drop some money in your car you could swap in a k20a2 200hp engine and i hear they do really well with turbos after you lower the compression a tad.

After a swap from any of these engines now its time to go turbo you can find out which turbo is going to be the best for each application from my post here http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=2645659&goto=2645659

maybe this will give you a little bit of an idea of what your in for! lol

Sell your civic, and use the 10,000 to buy another car. You can buy very decent things with 20,000 dollars.
