I dropped my 3rd child off at the day care center, aka the dealer, because I have an oil leak whihc is leaving about a Tea spoon of oil in my garage every night. So I am taking wagers on what it might be.
valve cover
upper oil pan (I was told there are 2 oil pans sort of upper and lower)
lower oil pan
oil pan gasket
valve cover

Mine leaks a little, but that's because I'm scraping the earth with less than 4" clearance and I smashed the drain plug, so it doesn't seal properly any more. That probably isn't your problem...
I honestly have no idea, but those three choices seem unlikely to me. Sure it's not hydraulic?

it looks like it motor oil and I have had oil loss but who knows the oil loss could be a leaky valve cover gasket. However, I do not smell smoke so the best I can do with this one is drop it off for a more knowledgeable person to investigate.
Since removing the oil pan requires so much disassembly and a few specila tools I figured it would be better off at the dealer.

well I should have allowed for multiple choices in the poll.
seems my passenger side valve cover is comprimised and the oil pan is leaking pretty badly. It would have to be the right passenger side wouldnt it. On the V6 it is a pain in the ass to fix.

has anyone onboard here done their own valve cover job on a V6 LS?
I am looking at the instructions on alldata.com but they do not cover the removal of the fuel linesand such and would like to know a little more about the job before i decide to elt them do it or do it myself.

Final outcome....
Oil pan gasket! 40 dollars, labor 400, happy knowing your lincoln has one less problem 440. LOL
I am definitely doing my valve covers but will have to wait 3 weeks. I am old and have a back ache so this weekend is out, next weekend have to move tools that my Grandfather bequeathed me. So it looks like the weekend of the 22nd barring any further old age injuries.

Seems like the average LS repair is about $500... The oil pan is apparently no exception. Glad it's fixed. Good luck with teh valve covers!
