91 cavalier losing power

I have a 91' Cavalier 4 dr., 4cyl., automatic with 100k. This car has a very difficult time getting up to highway speed. Also, car will only max out at 20 mph going up a hill(with pedal to floor). Also, has problems shifting gears. I have replaced spark plugs and wires. Could this be fuel filter? If so, is it easy to get to replace? Could it be distributor cap and rotor? Should I just replace fuel filter anyway? It has been at least 50k or more since fuel filter was changed(maybe never).
Also, blinkers do not work. Rear light and indicator come on but do not flash. Replaced both capacitors(turn and hazard).
Any help would greatly be appreicated!

Cant help you with the acceleration but on the blinker note check the flashers and try replacing them.... located in the fuse panel as well also look for any burned bulbs in the front right side.. also fuel filter is very easy to replace go buy one. look under your car by the gas tank... really self explanatory dont get worried because gas will leak out of the hose and the old filter. if really wanna know step by step go to auto store and ask to see an open book on the car

This car does not have a cap and rotor. It uses a direct ignition system (DIS). The fuel filter may help with you power problems. Also clean your injector and your IAC valve. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual if you are unsure how to do this. Good Luck.

Is the engine amking a really deep noise and vibrating when you go up hill. It may be that the trans isn't downshifting and it's labouring.

If it isn't downshifting it could be a number of things. TPS fault, Solenoid in tranny or something wrong with the Valve body. To be honest I'm not really 'up' on Auto's as only ever had manuals and probably only ever will!
I'm sure public would be able to offer some guidance if it is indeed not downshifting!
