1972 chevy nova

I have recently purchased a '72 Nova. Was the original rear-end a 8.2 or an 8.5- How do I find out what mine was/ Also, how do I rebuild a 10 bolt rear-end?

If you measure the rear end housing it will tell you which one you have, also you will have to match your gasket style to find out which type of rear end you have, for instance i have a 8.5" Corporate 10 bolt rear end.
