how does one program a car remote

I just bought a 2002 Infiniti I35 and it didnt come with a car remote. I still have the car remote from my old 1996 Infiniti I30. Is there any way that i can reprogram the remote to work for the new I35. If anyone knows how to do this or knows if it is even possable please tell me, thank you in advance for any help.
