Gas odor in 1995 S-10

I have a fuel odor in my 1995 S-10 (4 cyl). It is generally confined to the passenger side of the engine compartment but is also evident inside the vehicle when I turn on the VENT and the vehicle is underway or stopped. Must be coming out of the hood and into the vent. I can see no evidence whatsover of a gas leak inside the engine compartment. Any ideas as to what might be the problem? I recently had the gas tank replaced-it rusted out-but this does not seem to be related to that.

I think its coming from your charcoal canister on the front fender by the rad. When they go bad they fill with gas fumes

I have exactly the same problem, my truck is just the same, S10, 1995, 4 cyl, 2.2L MPFI.
I have noticed that the problem is focused on the 4th injector, not necesarly the injector, it is difficult to get there because of the way injectors are located/attached and other engine elements.
I've tryed 2 mechanics, but the odor stills there. Things they have done include: Removing and cleanning the injectors, changing the O rings of the injectors, changing O rings again for ACDelco originals, adjusting fuel lines, resealing the intake manifold and some others.
I don't know if there is anything else I (they) have not checked, my truk is just arriving at 95K miles and engine runs like new, no other problems with the truck.
Any advise? Thanks in advance
By the way, fuel odor is present after stopping the truck for a while (engine off)

Thanks, these symptoms mirror what is happening in my truck. I talked to the service manager at the local Chev. dealer and he suggested the charcoal canister located near the gas tank. Funny, because I just had the gas tank replaced, I noticed the odor right after that.

charcoal is used as a filter or air cleaner for the fuel tank vent. At some point just like any filter it gets worn out or if a gas leaks into it its done.
