I was thinking of maybe upgrading my headlights to the Xenon headlights but I am unsure how much better they will be. Mine just don't seem to get that bright. I have an 03' Runner and was looking at them on EBay. They are $10/set on there. Anyone have these or every use them? Easy to install? Performance and where to buy?

Well I have a 97' and I bought some xenon lights off eBay. I got the ones that were white/blue color. I bought them in august of 04' and so far they are still working. They are pretty bright and work well, I picked mine up for about $5+shipping. so you cant go wrong, took me about 5 min. to install. If you do buy them, break them in first. Don't leave them on for a long time, the first time you use them. It depends who you buy it from, some last longer than others.

Do they seem brighter? I just don't want to screw anything up on the Runner but would like brighter lights. I am assuming you installed these as your low beam?

well... there are 2 types of "xenon". Xenon can refer to a xenon charged bulb, or an actual HID xenon kit. My cousin tried one one of those $5 or $10 xenon gas bulbs and after a while, it melted the plastic in his headlight housing.

But I actually have the "HID xenon PLUS" kit in my truck. It makes a night and day difference. The only thing is... after about 2 years, the bulbs went out on me and i did not want to really go through the hassle of buying another bulb and replacing it. After switching back to a regular halogen bulb i was kind of dissappointed. So i went to the autoparts store and went with the "sylvania" bulbs. I believe they are called white star or something. But kind of expensive at around $30 a pair. THey have the look of HID and are a good mox between halogen and my HID kit.

hope this helps/

I did see the Sylvania brand at Parts American online. I might look into those. I am affraid of doing something to the light so I would rather go with a name brand hoping that they did their homework. Thanks for the reply.

I have a 97 4Runner and i have put on some Xenon bulbs. I have some 6000K HID Xenon bulbs with produce 120 watts of light. I have had them in for over a year and i have had no problems with any wiring or melting the plastic. In my opinion Xenon bulbs are the best for all types of driving. And off-road bright clean light they produce makes a huge difference. Good luck
