I just got a new Echo Hatchback Special Edition, Lowered, Spoiler, 15's, Potenzas, Borla Exhaust and an AEM Cold Air Intake. It's really zippy and just purs at 100 MPH. Now my question as I drive this car (for those of you who own one that isn't an '05 you'll know what I mean), where does it redline??? I mean I know it'll do just over 60MPH in 2nd gear and gets up there in a hurry but I am not nuts about having an aftermarket tach put in and because of that I am not sure what speed I can take Nano (my car) up to in each gear before redlining. If any of you know I would really appreciate the feedback. Any under hood mod suggestions would be nice too...short of a turbo or a super-charger - thanks, Zipcho.

Your redline is at 6250, fuel cut at 6500.
1st gear -> 60km/h
2nd gear -> 108km/h
3rd gear -> 140ishkm/h
4th gear -> never maxed out, but past 180km/h
5th gear -> not even close to maxing out
I read that there was supposed to be a rev limiter at 112mph (180km/h), but I have gone past 185km/h.
There isn't much you can do to an echo that would be very noticeable besides a turbo or supercharger. I believe E.L. Prototypes has come out with a bore kit that increases the 1.5l engine to 1.7l, that would be a decent gain of power but probably at a high cost. You can find more information about echos at www.echodrivers.com (i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post another site on this forum, if not, i'll remove).

.....not entirely unrelated but does anyone know the % error on the indicated speed and the real speed?
on a flat road, the higest indicated speed i've seen is around 110-111mph, in fifth, at around 5000 rpm.
this is in a 1999 1.0 car uk spec yaris.
on a slight downhill part of the M11 i've seen an indicated 117-118 mph.
and yeah, i don't think gearing in 5th will let you get anywhere the red line/limiter unless you have a veeeeeery long stretch of road to play with.
at an indicated 100, the little car seems quite happy, noise aside....
