hey guys, i have a 94 civic vti (d16 vtec)
which engine oil should i use. cause my dad bought 3 shell helix super semi synthetic oil 15 - 50w.
before we used 10 - 30w but he bought thre of these. one for my dads ford falcon, one for my brothers 93 celica and my civic.
im from australia and here my odometer is 192,000 kms.
i dont know how much that is in miles.
and for the civic, what is better, semi or full synthetic. and is it better to get from the honda dealer or just get a brand name like shell.
thanks

hey guys. i read this Adjust the throttle cable thingy in club si website.
can some one help me more with this topic also.
it says "Your all set! All you need to do is make sure the car does not idle any higher once warm.
Enjoy the added throttle response!"
what does it mean, i got an auto, and every time i use my car, i just turn the key and then i go. i dont warm my engine, i just leave it on park for like 2-3 seconds, then i start driving, do i have to change oil type or fuel type
thanks

dont mess with yoru throttle cable, ever heard of the if it aint broken saying.
you can use 50 weight oil in your civic, lots of turbo guys use it. but they do say its not good to mix match oil weights, idk if its true but thats what they say

50 weight, damn. i use 5w-30 synthetic blend. DO NOT switch from regular to full synthetic in one oil change. the two types dont like being mixed. you can go regular to blend to full synthetic though.
as for your throttle cable, you can adjust it and make it a little tighter if you want. but if you pull it too tight your car willl idle high because there isnt slack in the cable. i wouldnt worry about it with your auto.

The "full synthetic" you are reffering to is not real a full synthetic oil. It's really partially synthetic. Full synthetic would not work too well in a regular car engine.
I would not mix that oil in with what is already in your car. I'm not really sure what the temperature is like there (australia) so I can't say for sure what weight and viscosity oil you should use...but, 10w30 will work.
As for buying from a dealer or not, I wouldn't. They'll be more spendy for the exact same thing. Just go with Penzoil, Shell, etc.
