EGR troubles...is that all?

Recently, I was driving my 95 grand am se, (3.1 V6, Auto tranny ) and the EGR valve broke rite off. The bolts that held it on just snapped. So now my car goes 50 km/h when it's idleing. So when I go to put it into gear, it just slammes into gear. Would that be caused by the high idle? Cuz I would hate to think that my tranny is shot too. Someone please help!

If the egr is gone, you will have a huge vacuum leak at the intake - if the idle is high, it will slam into gear.

So that all makes sence? every now and then it won't go into drive, and then you have to put it into 2, and then once u get going put it into drive. would that have to do with the high idle too?

No, I doubt it.

How old is the tranny fluid? is it burnt? is the level correct?

Tranny fluid is fine, the level is fine too. It's just wierd cuz this all happend at the same time.
