clutch problems

well everyone, i found the problem with my car that was making it slower than ass...found a HUGE leak in the LICP using my leak tester...used duct tape to wrap around the whole pipe, put it back on and this thing seriously ran like a raped ape. it pulled real hard...anyway i let my friend drive it so he could fell the difference...he went on 18 and hit 125, throwing the shifter through the dash and dropping the clutch each shift....well after that, i started driving it and noticed that on every downshift, my car would vibrate a lot....and from a stop, when i start to engage the clutch, it chatters like a bitch, and the engage point is right on the floor....i tried adjusting the clutch (under the dash), to try and bring the engage point a little higher, but then the clutch wouldn't dis-engage at all and i couldn't put it in any gear....so i put the adjustment back to where it was, and the clutch is still on the floor...i mean literally, on the floor. with the brakes off, and when i throw it in first, it starts to move forward a tad with the clutch all the way in...could it be a t/o bearing or pressure plate? i was thinking maybe warped clutch disc or flywheel, but after playing with the adjustment, i think maybe a t/o bearing or pressure plate...you guys have any ideas?

You may have a broken disc or PP fingers. Check the hydraulics just to be safe. I would not have changed that adjustment under the pedal, unless you read my last post about clutch adjustment and understand what it does. If you put it back thats good. ;) Chck the hydraulics. One thing you can do is have a friend operate the clutch pedal while you watch the throwout fork move. It should move almost to the side of the square hole on the tranny it comes out of. If its not moving far enough its hydraulics, if it is, its time to drop the tranny and see what went wrong. The good news is dropping the tranny on a FWD is a piece of cake. :)

i tried what you said and the throwout fork seems fine, but earlier tonight i noticed that when i put the clutch in to disengage it, i hear a cracking/creaking sound, so i'm assuming it's either the PP or T/O bearing? the clutch disc SHOULD be perfectly fine, hopefully the disc and flywheel aren't purple this time lol...but what do you think it could be from that sound?

If the fork is moving all the way, and you are sure of that, it may be time to drop the tranny and see. The TOB wont make noise unless its rotating, but a banjaxed plate probably could.

hmm alright then....i had planned on dropping the tranny sometime this weekend, maybe later tonight...now i've never actually dropped out my tranny yet, and i do have a hane's manual incase i need to use it...but other than that, is there anything really critical that i should know before i do this?

NAh, FWD is extremely easy. Shit, just the difference in weight makes the FWD tranny removal/install much easier. :) I've seen a FWD tranny dropped in 24 minutes, in a hotel parking lot. But I would expect it to take 2-3 hours for the first timer. You shouldnt have to mess with the downpipe either, since there is no tcase to remove. HAve fun :)

ok i finally got the tranny put...after a whole day's work. first thing i noticed was part of my t/o bearing was laying in the bell housing! the fork looks a little beat up, and the whole t/o bearing is just gone....i'm pretty sure this was my problem with the engage being on the ground. i'm thinking there was hardly any t/o bearing left to push on the PP and disengage the clutch, does that sound about right? later tonight i'm going up to summit and picking up a new CF t/o bearing for like $40...i still need to take the clutch out and see if the plate/flywheel are purple lol
