I saw a similar color combo on a Beetle on the streets here, and thought I'd have a go at building one! The kit is the Tamiya '66 bug - as you can see I have to redo the white as the blue has leaked. Also, the white bits have got textured from the masking tape I used  ...I reckon, I should have let the white dry a little longer before masking - this time, I'm waiting some time before masking off the blue!! Unsure of the wheels I'll end up using...depends on the the interior, etc. and what looks best!! :)

Aw, thats always a bummer when you peel the tape
away and you see that the paint has bled through.
A little tip for you is to spray some light coats of clear
coat over the body while it's masked off, wait 5 or 10
minutes and the tape will have a better seal. The paint
will then less likely bleed through.

Hey,

Hate it when the tape doesnt work for you:-/ What kind of tape did you use? Did you try the blue painters tape? Seems to work pretty well for me. What rims are on the front/back of the bug? Keep up the cool work.

A Beetle is always a nice project. Maybe try some chrome(Pegasus) rims, some Californian style. :naughty:

I know what you feel with the paint bleeding, I had the same problem on my two tone beetle (see sig).

So, that's an interesting thread, I'll keep an eye on it. Can't wait for more

I sprayed lightly sprayed on the blue, hoping it would seal better - guess it didn't work! :)

I used Tamiya masking tape. I think the rims are from the Fujimi R33 and Evo 4..if I remember correctly!
