need help with my idle.... it's hunting bad. already changed the throttle positioning sensor(TPS), the first thing i checked. still hunting. i know its sucking in too much air from the cold air intake w/ apexi power intake filter custom fitted. my next guess is the manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP). if that doesn't work, then i'll end up changing the whole throttle body, which i don't really want to do since it cost around $400 for a new one from the dealer. really don't want to take out the cold air intake since it should not be effecting the car. but if anybody has any ideas, or other sensor that i should check out please let me know. any info is greatly appreciated!!!!

check your coolant and idle air control... low on coolant or a bad iac can cause that problem.....

Yea, I agree the IACV or the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) - the FITV is located underneath your throttle body - it is attached with 3 10mm screws, i'd take a gander at that - Also the IACV - remove it (2 bolts i think) and clean the screen with a toothbrush - don't push the screen in. the other way to test your IACV is to unplug it while your car is idling, the rpms should audibly drop a notch, plug it back in and they should return.

I don't know why you started with the TPS?, and I wouldn't recommend you flippin the bill for an entire throttle body - there is not too much there that would cause your idle probs, well technically there is - but from the issue you having with the hunt I highly doubt it's your throttle body.

also make sure your throttle cable nuts are toight...

when you did start with the TPS - did you set the one you swapped in back correctly? they have to be mounted matched to a voltage at idle and full throttle.

hey, thanks for all your info. yea, i started with the TPS because i had that problem with my civic a while back, and the switching the TPS fixed the problem. plus, three other highly qualified techs told me to start there first. well, thanks for your help. i'll check out the IAC and others....
