ok i have a 93si prelude that treats me good but i have a want.. that want is that i want a new car really for no reason but just for somthing new well new to me but when i tell people that i might sell my lude for a probe they want to slap me why i dont get it. my lude ran a 15.7 stock and a gt 2gen probe is in that same time rang so whats the big deal .. but here it comes the ????? can a probe after mods perform like my lude after mods ? if you had 3grand to dump in to both witch wood win. how dose the probe handle and is it relible ? these are for some reason mystery cars to me. any help you can give would be nice thanks for your time

My mom and my brother both own Probes (not GT though) and neither really like the car. My mom's 95 Probe (maunal) gets water in the door panels and she has had trouble with her idle motor. My brother's 96 Probe (auto) drives like crap. He's had ongoing trouble with it ever since he bought the thing. However, I am not saying these are consistent problems with Probes. Personally, I would never trade my beautiful 94 Si for one of those cars but the choice is yours. I can't really speak to the modding aspect of it either since neither my mom or brother have really modded their cars. My brother has rims and HID lights but never added anything to increase his car's performance.

for 3 grand you could do an engine swap to an h22 in your lude, then you'll be running high 14's, just from that. I wouldn't think of trading a lude for a probe. One, I think the prelude is a much better looking car, but that's opinion. Two, I think Ford's are crap for reliability. I don't think I've ever heard of a probe with over 200K miles on it that's still running, and running well. Plenty of Hondas do that. Just my two cents.

I think the Probe GT is faster than the Si. Mod for mod the V6 would respond better due to it's larger displacement. However there isn't much of an aftermarket for them beyond intake and exhaust. My friend had a 97 Probe GT. It was nearly impossible to find anything for them that wasn't custom. I'd have to say the Prelude would kill it in the twistys too. I know you said you want to keep the Si but I just wanted to show you some more facts to help prevent you from going to the "dark side".
