Quick Question on Wiring up the trailer Hitch

I got my new Factory towing package yesterday. I have mounted the hitch and everything looks great but now I want to wire up the trailer lights using the factory 7way plug that came with it. It looks to me that just to get the lights working all I need to do is crimp those 4 "blunt" wires to the ones under the car and ground it with the grounding ring. Is this correct? I really have no use for trailer brakes so would it hurt anything for me to cut the other two really long wires coming off that 7 way plug (the ones that go the length of the vehicle and up to the BEC under the hood?) I just want the basic tail lights, brake lights and turn signals to work on the jet ski trailer.
Also is there an adapter that GM will sell to plug a standard trailer plug into the receptical plug on the hitch? Or do i have to buy a special end and wire it to my trailer to make it plug in?
Thanks for any response, i'd like to wrap this project up today.

Wheres the best place to get the adapter so I can plug my trailer into the "outlet" on the hitch?
