Hello All,
I have a 89 Ciera that is having fuel pump problems. It appears that the pump is not getting power. No pump motor sound when ignition it turned on. No fuel pumping when motor is cranked. Fuel guage is also not working - pegged all the way to the right (full). I did cut the fuel line loose at the fuel filter and the pump is for sure not working.
Based on what little documentation I have, I understand there is a fuse for this pump somewhere. Does anyone know where it is? It is not in the fuse panel. Also, where is the fuel pump relay? Any suggestions on other things I should be looking at?
Thanks!

Most fuel pump relay is near the battery. Follow the battery positive cable. The battery positive cable is split into "Y" which one of its wire goes underneath (I think into the starter) and the other wire goes to the so called "Remote Positive Terminal" just near the battery. The wire is tightened with a hex nut. It is the place where the fuel pump relay (square black relay) and a fuse. You will also notice a red wire dangling and that red wire is used to manually supply power to the fuel pump to activate the fuel pump. All you have to do is rig some wire to connect to the battery positive terminal and the other end connected to that dangling red wire.

Thanks, I did follow the wires from the battery. One set does go to the starter (heavy guage wire) the other pair seem to go to this odd looking junction box. There are three connectors hooked up to that box, each of which has at least a half dozen wires. I did find one dangling wire (orange one). But I didn't get any response from the pump when I jumpered it to the hot side of the battery. I haven't found the relay yet
or the fuse. I am thinking maybe I will go to the autoparts store and have them show me what the relay looks like. As far as I can tell, it is not in the engine compartment.
About how large should that relay be?
Also, is the fuse typically a cylindrical fuse or is it a automotive type?

The relay typically look like this http://partimages.genpt.com/partimages/70296.jpg and the fuse is regular automotive type "rectangle".

mine on my 93 ciera was on passenger side of car (opposite side of battery) up by the headlites inside a little black plastic case. Hope you find it and it is blown so you dont need new pump) its gonna be a blue auto type fuse same as in your glove box.

Thanks! Do you happen to remember which relay it was (my 89 has three right there by the lights) Where in relation to the relay is the fuse?
