i am going to be doing a fluid change on an 86 camaro iroc and i would like to know if regular atf is ok or is there a certain tranny fluid needed for this car
it has a 305 and it is automatic i'm not sure which model the tranny is but possibly a 700r4?
if there is a certain fluid it needs what is it called and would the dealer be the best place to get it.
thanks

ive been told that dextron III is what to use. chilton's manual says dextron II, but i was also told that dextron II is now dextron III. i havent tried either, but im sure someone on here has.
and if your car has a stock tranny it should be the 700r4. hope this helps.

i had originaly bought it to change the fluid on a lebaron convertible but was told after that i should use atf+3 for chrysler trannys
and how many litres will it take approx. witha pan drop as i am replacing the filter also

If it has an automatic transmission you can use dexron 2 or 3, they are basically the same thing. Buy a repaire manual from a parts store for your car, they are invaluable. It will most like say in there how much to use and maybe even what kind of fluid if it's something other than ATF.

I use Ford F-type in my trucks. One of the major things about Dextron is it makes the shifts smoother...to hell with that!! The F-type ATF and B&M Trickshift are pretty much the same thing. Anyways, I've had no problems with this fluid.
