Forgive me Camaro guys and gals, but I love both Camaros and Firechickens, so looking at both sites. On my '86 T/A (mild SBC engine, carb, no computer, but stock cooling system) where is the relay that controls when the cooling fan kicks on and off? Also, at what temp should it cycle? Thanks!

the relay is on the firewall, driver side. fan should kick on around 230 degrees.

Thanx for the info. I've enjoyed reading your responses to other's problems, so appreciate it very much.
I'm really surprised it kicks in at that high of a temp though (230). Doesn't that reduce the effectiveness of a 160, 180, etc. degree thermostat to keep the engine around those temps?
Thanks again. Later, Oz

dosnt really comprimise the lower temp thermostats, because at highway speeds the fan dosnt really kick on anyway due to airflow over the radiator, so the thermostat will still be working to keep temps low. also, the stock thermostat opens at around 210-220 which is still lower than the fan, its set up so that the thermostat opens before the fan turns on, because it wont do any good to have the fan running and the thermostat closed. when you are sitting in traffic its another story, and the effectiveness of the lower temp thermostat is negated anyway.
