Gauge CLuster Lights- Head unit.

Ok i just went to install a new head unit in to my car and i pulled my old one there was a wire for dash illumination but i never had it atached to my old head unit. Now since i put the new one in my gauge lights and marker running lights will not come on when i turn on my head lights so i ran a battery line to the dash illumination line and now they come on no matter what as long as i have my car on. which is a pain in the ass because i need the few extra amps for my stereo its already sucking the batery dry. so can somone please help me with this problem its really starting to drive me crazy...

My best bet is there is a wire crossed somewhere going to your origional lighting wire follow it and see if you can find anything. Keep us posted
