You can find this answer from Mr. Search. He'll direct you to the right thread. I'm more than positive this has been discussed if not than head yourself to www.twinturbo.net where I know for sure they have.

Here is a quick (not comprehensive) rundown of different flavours of smoke out your exhaust, not just specific to zeds:

white == water. This could be a result of:
warped head
cracked head
blown head gasket

blue == oil. This could be a result of:
warped head
cracked head
blown head gasket
fucked piston rings

black == partially burnt fuel. This could be a result of:
faulty TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
faulty O2 (oxygen) sensor
faulty FPR (Fuel pressure regulator)
faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) / AFM (Air Flow Meter)
Incorrectly advanced/retarded ignition timing (Distributor or CAS - Crank angle sensor)
Incorrectly gapped spark plugs

this guy will fix a warped/cracked head for me pretty cheap, hes my uncle.... however i would still need to find how much a head gasket costs and how much for a new head

were talking about 100$ for either one right

what does the coughing noise mean, it sounded like it was running out of gas or something was clogged

hmm well this guy installed a new pendulum in the transmission and it turned out that wasnt what was wrong he said" its ok you dont have to pay me" her did a good 6 hours worth of work for free, he charged 20$ to install new o2 sensors on my moms taurus

this guy would probly charge me 80$ max for something wrong with the motor, im worried more about the part than the labor

besides whats the worst that could happen if i dont fix it, and what caused it anyways, does it have to do with the timing belt

I doubt this problem has anything to do with the timing belt. New head gasket from nissan will probably cost you around $50 USD.
New head will cost you probably $300-$500 USD.
If the head isn't warped too much, you can get it machined, but chances are your uncle couldn't do that himself. Most mechanics need to send it off to a machining shop to get that done.
Probably looking at around $200-$300 USD for that to be done. Keep in mind these prices do not factor labour into them at all and for any of these options, its going to take at least 5-6 hours, probably more if he isn't familiar with the engine.

Putting a headgasket on one of these is hella easier than the Villager I am working on in my shop. Took about 4 hours to get the valve covers off.

NEW HEAD FOR 500.00 BUX......NO WAY.......I Bet the bare casting will set ya back way more than that. And factory gaskets for what I see wil run ya about 220 dead presidents.
Cylinder Head Gasket Set w/ OE head gaskets

Cause you gonna need some new valve cover and intake/exhaust gaskets too. And may as well change them plugs while its torn down......Don't fix a blown head gasket and your whole motor will soon suffer damage that can but not limited to. but ruining your shit. And leaving you on the side of the road......Resulting in a Tow bill...And having to call pops in the middle of the night to come get ya stranded ass. Pissing off moms also cause pops woke her up in the middle of the night. The moral of this story is ,,,,,,Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today. And And I still missed id this car is a TT or not........If it is.......Turbo seals are a must while ya torn down this far. Also a new timing belt......

Just my :2cents:

Ok, maybe I got lost in the conversion rate. Keep in mind however that its a 3cyl head, not a 6cyl head. Big difference in price.

Again, maybe lost in conversion rate but why do you need both gaskets? We aren't replacing both heads.

I think you overestimate the price of gaskets and underestimate the reusability. If its an NA, there are no major pressure differentials around the gaskets anywhere. I'd never reuse a head gasket but I reuse exhaust, intake gaskets all the time on my NA. If its turbo then yeah you're right though, probably not a good idea to reuse them.

And may as well change them plugs while its torn down.....

What, $5 each for some NGKs?

Hey, it may also be a good idea to check your period key. It may be malfunctioning.
