CAI vs. Short Ram

this is totally opinonative but which is better a CAI intake or Short ram? and do any of you have iceman CAI i heard that they make better CAIs because they are made out of plastic instead of aluminum. Aluminum conducts heat more than plastic so wouldnt it effect the temperature of the air inside the intake? :eek7:

My buddy had a iceman CAI, and it worked just as well as his cheap e-bay one (never dyno'd though). He bought it maybe 4 or more years ago, so they may have changed the design a little. But the best intakes are the ice box type, they've been dyno proven to give you more power.

You aren't running enough power to worry about a little temperature increase from the aluminum. I would think that the plastic one would look cheap and kinda corny. I have a 3" short ram and it looks cool and functions just as good. The filter sits right over the ducting that the stock airbox used so the CAI has no advantage over the short ram. Since it is oversized it also makes a cool sucking sound that is really loud and you can fool idiot kids into thinking you have a turbo. Unless your running high hp, you don't need to worry about the temperature, plus you can look at it like this...if the outside air is cold, it will cool the aluminum intake and make the air colder. Think about it.

The difference is also with resonance. The longer tubes of a cold air intake is better for top end power because of resonance that is created inside the tubing.

Whereas short intakes are better for low end torque.
