Okay, this has confused me for quite some time... what are the differences between OBDI and OBDII? are their any better features on the newer one? why did honda change them? Sorry if this is a dumb question but i don't know the answer...

i think as of 98 all cars were required to have obd2, i think its just to generalize car repair. from a performance perspective though obd1 is going to be better because there are more applications that will only work properly on obd1 cars

the whole reason that cars have OBD to begin with is because of the government in order to meet environmental regulations... when obdI came out it was considered pretty advanced but there were things that needed improvement so they brought out OBDII which has been mandatory on all cars sold in the US since 1996... however hondas didn't adopt obdII until 98 (which cost them in fines)... essentially on board diagnostics is for emission control purposes and to help diagnose problems that may be occuring with the car, but the reason for going from I to II is meet the new CARB and EPA requirements... just wait til OBDIII comes out, which last I heard is supposed to be within the next couple of years but no definate date yet.
