Hello guys, I discovered about one month ago a heavy taste for the muscle car era. With that in mind I started to look at different cars pf that era.
I'm almost 19. Well, my first car isn't really that far timewise. In a matter of months I would like to start a car project for my first car.
Here is where you can help me. I don't know which car to choose. I'm not a GM or mopar guy, but really like both (but also really open). Please guide me according to my budget and considering the fact that I don't wanna be searching all around the globe for parts. My job pays relativly (spell?) well, but on the other side I don't wanna have a black hole in the alley. Here is the big question you might be asking: money ??? I plan on paying 2500$ US for the vehicle. Don't get me wrong I am not thinking that I will have something even drivable at this price. Please tell me what I can expect for that price (don't worry I don't expect much, just no rust bucket or black hole).
I am ready to pour sweat, tears, blood, elbow grease and all needed to pull this off. I have the time to put in, I'm about to begin a car tech course and I should have friends to help me out. I don't need the car as of now for transportation (thanks to my dad).
Any info I forgot please ask

Wow, sounds like you got the bug bad, the musclecar bug. Are you looking for something to have fun with or just something that is rare, or old or new.

Sorry but I forgot to mention it. I, by no means want to build a show car. I want to build me a nice daily(or not so daily) driver. I'm currently looking at cars from 1966 to 1972.
Keep the replies coming as I'm waiting and needing your advice/tips/etc...

Well, depends what brand you like. If it is chevy go for a chevelle, camaro or nova. If pontiac go for a firebird. If dodge maybe a charger or challenger. If you go for the chevy (where most of my knowledge is) and you want a nice street/strip car, put a well built 350 in there. Also do some research online, or google some pics of the cars.

I would try to find something obscure, while not being super rare, if you want something as a daily driver. I would look at 70-72 Monte Carlos and Grand prix. Big cars, but can easily be made to do very good burnouts. On the plus side, you can find one in your price range that has a decent motor, that's relatively rust free. Try to stay away from the lighter "muscle cars" if you don't know what your getting into. The reason is rust. It can be very costly to replace panels (such as on my dart). Your more common type musclecars GTO's Chevelles Charger's ETC. will cost alot more in terms of investmest. If you would like to just have fun I would check out these Monte Carlo and Grand Prix models.
