I tried to hook it to the distributer but one of the wires did nothin and the other 2 were making the tach say it was redlineing at 4000, which is not correct because it runs fine. where should i hook it in to at? please help me...

You should hook it to the gray wire with a blue tracer behind your instrument cluster. Tap into that wire.

Early 95 neons (actual year the car was made would be 94) Did not have the ability to add the tach directly to the factory wiring harness. You have to buy an aftermarket kit to hook up the tach. My guess is you could do it yourself if you knew how. I never looked into it.

I have seen a number of early built 95's that would work with a tach cluster and others that wouldn't. I don't know the difference however.

Interesting. I read this on the net and went to the junkyard and tried it on 4 cars from 1994 and none of them worked with tach. I tried it on 5 cars from other years and had no problem so i assumed it was true.
