How to remove tilt lever???

I need to know how to remove the tilt lever on my 99 Grand Am in order to get the bottom column cover off, how is this done??

Should be threaded in.
Just turn counter-clockwise.

This on the tilt lever to move the steering wheel which comes through column cover, it is not round nor threaded cannot be turned??

Sorry stwerdun, i'm not familiar with the 99's.
