Timing belt/chain

can u some how change ur timng belt, to a chain, cause i dont want my belt to loose anyof the belts teeth or nething like, cause i saw this one dudes engine, and it was all fucked, cause he lost some 16 teeth of his belt, but i was just wondering if u can have that done

a chain as in a metal chain? first of all i think that would slip. 2nd of all the belt moves and stretches and does all kind of stuff when the engine is running and shaking and stuff.

The belt should be changed every 60k miles. Its a pretty big project. If you take shortcuts in your spelling, I would expect you to take shortcuts in your timing belt job. Have it done either by another DSMer with experience doing it, or a dealer. Avoid the regular mechanics at all costs, they just dont understand how important it is to get the tension right on these cars, or how to get it right. dude your talking about replacing your timing belt with a chain? a chain? as in a metal chain. lol WTF? dude the timing belt is important it runs the pulleys and stuff and its suppose to be tensioned. how are you going to get the chain to work? it wouldnt slip and stuff its a metal chain. i dont even know but im sure it wont work.

Ok... I think he's asking if it would be possible to modify his timing pully so that it would use a chain instead of a belt.

If that's not what he meant, at least it makes more sense.

A chain will last a lot longer than a belt... If you didn't already figure that.

nobody has done it, or wants to... so if you feel like being a pioneer strap a chain to it and watch it fail. why are you afraid of a timing belt breaking? just service it when you are supposed to.

I just finally figured out what this guy was asking in the original post. LMAO. The belt won't break if it is set up properly and changed every 60k miles. So refer back to my initial post. Have it dont properly. ;)
