I am having a problem with my heat. I am not getting any heat out of my center vents on the dash and none at all out of the floor vents. It does not matter what stteing I have the dial set to. It all comes out of the door vents and the defroster. What could be the problem? Are there relays that control this or what. Thanks

I forgot to say that my center dash vents and floor vents are blowing out cold air.

i have the same problem. it started about 3 weeks ago, my eclipse blows cold through the center dash for about 10 mins after the side and defrost warms up. after that they slowly heat up.

I dont think mine gets warm at all in the floor or center vents

also, I have heard some vehicles defrosters gives worse gas mileage. I am not sure. I know I get horrible mileage and my defroster is on at all times when my heat is on. Not sure why but my little selecter knob for where you want the heat to come from does not change anything. It always comes out the defrost and the dash vents. Does having the defroster on at all times drag on the motor at all causing worse mileage? Thanks

The defroster is controlled by a switch. It is located behind the controls. It has two terminals, if they have continuity in any position other than defrost, def/foot, replace the switch. The air outlet is controlled by a cable, it is in the driver's side foot well. :licka: I THINK that the defroster turns on the airconditioner compressor, that might explain worse mileage.

that is what I was thinking. as far as the ac compressor I mean. Is there anyone who would know for sure. If heat is coming from the defrost vents, does that mean that the ac compressor is running? Thanks again.

I said I think the compressor comes on, because it does on every other non-dsm car I have owned. I have not owned this car long enough to have used the defrost, but I will assume that it is the same. You only have to start the car and listen for the compressor clutch to kick in. Just because the compressor is running, that doesn't mean that cold air has to be coming out of the vent.
