Raced (Kinda) an 05 Mustang...

I actually totally forgot about this encounter untill i read that WS6vs05Stang thread.

It was about eight thirty, and I was either going to return or go rent some more movies/games (hoping that NFSU2 would be instock). Anywho, the first five minutes of my trip were at 15mph. The road I live along is a mile long, and gravel. If you go much above 20, stones fly up and chup up your paint.

So, i finally get to the end, and wait for a car to go past, my lights pick up the shape of some Halibrand styled wheels, so I quickly pull out wanting to see what this vehicle was, then the tail lights give it away, 3 vertical lightbulbs, definately an 05 Mustang. By the time I pulled out, he was about 4 18-wheeler lengths ahead, so i floor it to about 75 (in a 40) to catch up, but apparently he was going just as fast or faster. I couldnt keep up with him in the corners, with these dark, wooded Virginia country roads. (hey man, thats 4000 lbs i gotta handle), plus I had already hit a deer this year, and scared the shit outta me. This goes on for about a good 5 miles before i reach a stop sign, by the time I start to slow down, hes already started to accelarate. I mash the gas and try to keep up. The counry road is about 3 miles longer, before we hit the highway.

He finally gets stopped behind a redlight to enter the highway, its late, and theirs little traffic on this part of the road (still in the country). Except theirs only one exhaust pipe comming out! From what I've read, the new 4.0L's just as fast, if not faster then the 5.0L Mustangs. The light goes green, and i take it outta O/D incase he wants to play, He out accelerates me as we turn on, he gets in the slow lane, and i get in the passing lane, we get to about 70 and just cruise there, some young guy, spikey gelled hair, leather jacket..yeh..well, after staying next to each other for a quarter mile, i decide its all over, and go on my way and get up to 75-80. About 10 miles down the road, in town, he tries to fly by me, but I figured the town is probably crawling with cops, and dont follow, plus the movie place was only about an eighth of a mile ahead. :icon16:

Yea the new v6 stangs have about 210-215 hp, not sure the exact number. Pretty impresive for a v6 from ford, but still not great. I remember reading the quote "When ford realeses a good v6 mustang, we'll feature it" in Muscle Mustangs Fast Fords. Well I think the time has come, or at least is pretty damn close...

I'd be surprised if the V6 Stang is as fast as the old 5.0 unless they throwing 3.55's in the back of the 6-shooters . It may make similair HP and even if it was lucky as good a torque band but don't forget that 05 Stang is a lot of extra weight compared to the Foxes.

Yea I have only seen 1 05 in person and it was a 6-er. :mad:

yea ive seen 3 05 gt's and like 20 or more new mustang v6s. yea theres a lot here in texas.

I rode in an 05 gt and I definately respect it for being a mustang gt. It had good accel but it wasn't broken in yet so we didn't get to fully see what it was made of.

I've found mostly college girls and old people in the V6's. I've seen 1 GT and he was an enthusiast...

But then again I go to college...

Im in the chicago NW suburbs, and I have seen 2 Gts on the road, and 1 GT + 2 V6s at a dealership (woodfield ford).

Its all just fun. I usually just purge and most people leave me alone.
